2022 BAROSSA CHARDONNAY
The Vineyard
Planted in 2003, this Chardonnay grows on an east-facing slope, reducing the impact of the Barossa’s afternoon sun and therefore retaining acidity and structure in the wine. This in turn creates a leaner and less full-bodied Chardonnay. The specific plot of Chardonnay has been experimentally managed in an organic and sustainable way in recent years, and the positive impact is clear to see in the quality of these grapes!
Tasting Note
Generous lean stone fruits and crisp citrus lend through to a rounded mouthfeel with a light touch of cream and some gentle spices. The wine is very well balanced with a clean and long fruity finish.
Food & Cellaring
This would pair well with many dishes, but certainly any oily dishes would go particularly well; from a well dressed salad to grilled oily fish or salamis and smallgoods.
Personally, I like this wine as it is - fresh and lean and full of young fruit character. However, if you do prefer richer buttery notes, give this wine three to four years for a more pronounced style.
